Hello, I'm Peter.
I'm a fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in General Surgery having completed their 5-year training program. Following this, I undertook further 4 years of surgical training in New Zealand, Australia and the United States, focusing on the upper gastrointestinal tract. This includes endoscopic, laparoscopic, robotic and open surgical approaches to conditions of the oesophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas and biliary tree /gallbladder. In recognition of this training, I am member of the Australian & Aotearoa New Zealand, Hepatic, Pancreatic & Biliary Association, The Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand Gastric and Oesophageal Surgery Association, and Australian & New Zealand Metabolic and Obesity Surgery Society. I completed the 1 year Harvard Medical School Surgical Leadership program to expand my skills in leadership, team building, innovation, safety, work-place culture, and patient advocacy.
Long before my career as a surgeon, I’ve always felt at home in the outdoors. It’s where I find my balance. I grew up in the Blue Mountains in Australia where bushwalking, camping and rock-climbing were weekly pursuits. I definitely appreciate the power of adopting healthy habits and their profound impact on well-being. This is most apparant when the balance is lost: studying, professional training, working and raising children. I know I'm not alone in this and we all need help to find the healthy balance again. Whilst I'm well aware of the transformative power of obesity management medication and surgery, these alone are not enough. Developing and maintaining healthy habits I believe is absolutely key to reaching our goals. I’m excited about partnering with you on your journey!
